Dear teachers, brethren,
Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings,
May Allah's blessings and peace be upon you all.
It is a great honor for me to stand here now as the representative of my school to participate in this Annual Islamic Conference. It is also an honor for me to be able to share with you some of my thoughts on how Islam as a religion of peace is sadly misunderstood by the world community today.
O my noble brethren,
Keeping peace is one of the highest desires of mankind in this day and age. However, unfortunately peace is increasingly difficult to find anywhere. There are wars going on in many places. Everyone sees themselves as right and others as wrong, without trying to understand each other better.
Islam offers true peace to all mankind. We are not saying that Islam is the only religion that offers peace. However, the term 'Islam' itself comes from the Arabic root 'Salam' which means peace or submission to Allah's Will. A person who commits an act of terrorism, even if it is carried out in the name of Islam, does not deserve to be called a Muslim.
Indeed, the true Islam is what is contained in the Qur'an (the Holy Book of Islam) and the Sunnah (Words of the Prophet Muhammad). And not everything that Islam says is considered part of the religion of Islam. Must be returned to the Qur'an and As-Sunnah.
